KEP Citizens' Office – your free government helper
The KEP Citizens' Office is a state-funded, free service for all citizens in Greece. It helps with completing administrative procedures and is an invaluable aid, especially for immigrants.
What is the KEP Citizens' Office?
The KEP (Κέντρο Εξυπηρέτησης Πολιτών - Citizen Service Center) is a state-financed service that helps citizens complete official business. Its use is completely free for citizens. The KEP is represented in almost every Greek community and can help with a variety of administrative tasks.
Official website: www.kep.gov.gr
What can the KEP do for you?
The KEP supports citizens with the following tasks:
- Application and issuance of certificates and documents
- Forwarding applications to the relevant authorities
- Support with exchanging driving licenses
- Help with registering in the EMEP personal register
- Information about necessary documents for various administrative procedures
- Certification of copies
The CEP is particularly valuable for immigrants from Switzerland, as the employees have experience with the requirements of foreign citizens and can often communicate in English.
Private citizen services
In some regions there are now also private citizen services that offer similar services. However, these are subject to a fee. The free KEP is completely sufficient for most standard tasks. Private services can be useful if you have very complex requests or need particularly quick processing.
Make an appointment
In many CEP offices, making an appointment in advance is necessary or at least recommended. Appointments can often be made online or by telephone. Find out more in advance on the website of your local municipality or call KEP directly.
